Hey everyone,
As many of you know, we have our weekly Crossfire Youth service tonight, at 7 p.m. located on the 2nd floor of the Sonlife Radio building. We have had some tremendous services as of late, as we have been studying the great Sixth Chapter of Romans, which I believe is the single most important Chapter in the entirety of the Word of God. We have been teaching on the Victory that is found in Christ and what He did at Calvary, and how that our Faith must be ever anchored in the Finished Work of Christ.
In this blog, I would like to deal with this subject very briefly, if I may. As a Youth Minister, there are many "ideas" as to how we should minister to our Youth, and what we should present to our Young People. It has been said that we as Ministers of Gospel should water down our Message for the Youth will not be able to understand it. I strongly disagree!
Not too long before the Crucifixion, Jesus proclaimed "And I, if I be lifted up from the Earth, will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:32). Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus Christ, the Lord of Glory, the Savior for all mankind, watered down His Message so that the Young People would understand? Where in the Bible does it say that the Apostle Paul watered down his Message so that Young People would understand? You will not find that anywhere in the Bible, for it's not there. The Message that we are to Preach is the same Message that Paul Preached, "For Christ sent me not to Baptize, but to Preach the Gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the Preaching of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness; but unto us which are Saved it is the Power of God" (I Cor. 1:17-18). "For we Preach Christ Crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness" (I Cor. 1:23). The Message that should be going out to our Youth is the Message of the Cross. No other message will have the same effect as the Message of the Cross, for it is the only Message that will set the sinner free and keep the Believer free.
It has been said many times before, that in order to win the Youth, that we have to adapt the ways of the world to win the world. Once again, let me quote the Word of God: "Come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord of Hosts" (II Cor. 6:17). We are not to be like the world in any way, shape, form, or fashion. We have been brought out from the ways of the world, separated unto God for His purpose, and should never try and use the methods of the world to reach the world. This will never work!
It's time that we come back to the Cross, and forget about every other fad that's out there. Come back to the Old Path, the Alter, the Lamb of God Who taketh away the sin of the World. The Cross is the answer for teenage pregnancy, teenage depression, teenage suicide, teenage drug addiction... The Cross can bring about the change that is needed in the hearts and lives of our Youth.
In Him,
Gabriel Swaggart
